When the 53rd annual Optimist All-Star Football Game kicks off Saturday at American River College, recent high school graduates will take their last bows on the prep gridiron. The game features many big name players, including Burbank quarterback Miles Freeman and Pleasant Grove running back Michael Madkins on the South team and a number of stars from Grant’s state champion team with the North. Locally, some of the Roseville/Granite Bay area’s top players from last fall will lace them up once again, playing for Grant coach Mike Alberghini with the North squad. Roseville running back Zack Davis is the lone Tiger representative, while Oakmont sends defensive lineman Scott Schwieger. Both Woodcreek and Granite Bay will see a lineman from each side of the ball – Grizzly offensive lineman Eddie Thomas and defensive lineman Colton Paulhus, and Timberwolf offensive lineman Casey Griffiths and defensive end Darius Woods. The game starts at 7 p.m. Saturday night in the stadium at American River College.
