La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries today announced it was donating $3,000 to The Gathering Inn homeless shelter as a result of a promotion at the Roseville store.

During October, a portion of proceeds from sales were designated for the shelter, which was temporarily closed this summer due to lack of funds.

La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries is owned by Placer County residents Jim and Liz Reego.

“We hope this donation motivates our customers, friends, neighbors and other business owners to follow suit and provide comfort to those who need it most this winter,” said Liz Reego, in a press release.

Thanks to a Business Challenge Matching Grant, this donation and any other business donation to the nonprofit will be doubled, said Suzi deFosset, executive director of The Gathering Inn.

“We rely on the generosity of our community and we appreciate that the Reegos and their staff are committed to helping homeless people to have a warm and clean place to stay at night,” she said in the release.
