La Salle Club to induct 2013 class into Hall of Fame

Signups also open for runs, golf tournaments, summer camps

La Salle Club Hall of Fame

The La Salle Club’s 59th annual Baseball Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held Saturday, April 27, at the Christian Brothers High School field house in Sacramento.

Inductees include 1976 National League Co-Rookie of the Year Butch Metzger, eight-year major-league veteran Fernando Arroyo, St. Louis Cardinals farmhand and Japan big-leaguer Leon Lee, Tom Dicktakes, Joe Gill, Mike Green, Gene Sackett, Gary Szakacs and Nick Peters, who in 2009 was inducted into the writer’s wing of the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

No-host social hour begins at 5:30 p.m. with dinner served at 6:30. Banquet tickets cost $25 and can be ordered online at www.cbhs-sacramento.org. For information, call Joe McNamara at (916) 812-5699.

 

Roseville to hold annual Tiger Basketball Camp

 

What: Five-day camp for boys and girls entering grades 3-8 with instruction in fundamentals and skills taught by men’s and women’s varsity players in the program. The camp also includes scrimmages.

When/Where: June 10-14 at Moeller Gymnasium at Roseville High School. The camp runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

Costs: $130 per player and $100 for each additional sibling. The fee includes a camp T-shirt and a free pass to a Roseville High School game next season. Registration can be done online at active.com.

Woodcreek basketball camp

 

What: The camp is for students who will be in grades 4-9 next fall and will include quality instruction, player evaluation, guest speakers and demonstrations, age-group games and contests, and daily awards.

When/Where: June 24-28 at Woodcreek High School. The gym will open at 8:30 a.m. each day for open shooting. The camp runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day (except June 28, which will end at 12:30 p.m.) with lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Costs: Pre-registration is $125 per camper with a $25 discount for each additional sibling. Registration at the door is $150.

Second annual Drive for Babies Golf Tournament

 

When/Where: Friday, May 3, at Turkey Creek Golf Club in Lincoln.

Cost: The cost for the four-person scramble is $125 per golfer, which includes green fee, cart, range balls, lunch and dinner. There will be a $5,000 putting shootout, four hole-in-one contests and longest-drive and closest-to-the-pin contests. Proceeds benefit the March of Dimes.

Stand Up Placer Run is May 4 at Maidu Park

 

What: The third annual survivors’ run is a 5K competitive run and 5K fun run/walk. Proceeds benefit crisis intervention, therapy and legal/social services advocacy.

When/Where: 8:30 a.m. Saturday, May 4, at Maidu Park in Roseville.

Costs: $25 per adult and $15 per child.

Diamond Creek Elementary golf tournament at Morgan Creek

 

What: Second annual golf tournament at Morgan Creek Golf Course. The school is raising funds to add a music enrichment program and library books.

When/Where: Friday, May 10, at Morgan Creek Golf Course, 8791 Morgan Creek Lane in Roseville.

Cost: The cost is $100 per golfer for the 18-hole scramble tournament and includes a cart and dinner.

Mayor’s Cup golf tournament taking registration

 

What: The 17th annual Mayor’s Cup is a four-person scramble format with proceeds benefiting at-risk youth recreation programs.

When/Where: Friday, May 10, at Woodcreek Golf Club. Check-in begins and the driving range opens at 10 a.m. Boxed lunches will be served at 11 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at noon and a luau and awards at 5 p.m.

Cost: $125 per individual, which includes green fee, cart, shirt, giveaway bag, lunch and luau. There will be games and activities on the course.

Eich Middle School summer sports camps

 

When/Where: Volleyball camp dates are June 10-13, and basketball camp dates are June 17-20 at Warren T. Eich Middle School, 1509 Sierra Gardens Drive, Roseville. Camps run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day.

Woodcreek to hold summer boys soccer camp

 

When/Where: June 24-27 at the Woodcreek High School football stadium. The camp lasts from 9 a.m. to noon each day. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. June 24.

Cost: The camp is open to boys entering second through eighth grades and costs are $90 per player and $75 for additional siblings.
