Eleven local high school graduates recently earned a $500 scholarship each from the Kiwanis Club of Roseville. Among the winners were Amanda Ellsworth, Jamie Nurenberg, Jessica Mah and Amber Kakepoto of Roseville High School. Marissa Hanneman, Jency James, Lauren Phillips and Kathryn Lewis of Woodcreek High School also earned recognition. Rachel Rouse of Oakmont High School, Faten Mann of Antelope High School and Rayna Vigil of Adelante High School also took home Kiwanis scholarships. The students submitted an application, which Kiwanis members read through until filtering down to their top candidates. “There was a heavy emphasis on community service and how they serve their school, because Kiwanis is a service organization,” said local member Frank Chapman. He said all of the students displayed high academic achievement. Two of the scholarships were funded by the Allstate Financial Services in conjunction with the Kiwanis Club. ~ Sena Christian
