Danielle Turner and 1-year-old son, Kaden, check out the city of Roseville's green Volkswagen Beetle during an Earth Day celebration Thursday at Kaiser Permanente Roseville Medical Center.

The city brought out the "bug" to encourage residents to use Integrated Pest Management methods to control the problem of snails and slugs in gardens and yards. This avoids harmful pesticides, which contribute to water pollution.

Some 30 vendors participated in the event, including Roseville Electric, Tahoe Rim Trail Association and Electric Auto Association. Vendors advocated energy conservation, waste reduction and healthier choices.
