Jr. Midgets go 3-0 after defeat of Roseville’s Jr. Tigers

The Lincoln Jr. Zebra Jr. Midgets remained undefeated and in first place after a solid win over the Roseville Jr. Tigers. A stellar defensive effort on the part of the Jr. Midgets helped them improve to 3-0 as they held their opponents scoreless for the third consecutive game. The Jr. Tigers battled hard as the Lincoln squad clung to a narrow 8-0 lead, but Lincoln’s defense ended all hopes of a Roseville comeback. Joseph Flores made two interceptions and returned them both for touchdowns to break open the contest. Moises Huerta connected on all three extra points to give the Jr. Midgets a final margin of 24-0. Mitey Mites _ The morning game proved quite exciting as the Mighty Mites showed great improvement in week three while battling a tough Roseville team. Dustin Sherman scored for the Jr. Zebras, and the defense played great. An aggressive Lincoln group knocked to the ground a number of Roseville passes. Midgets _ The Midget team came out of the gates quickly to get an early jump on a seasoned Roseville team. PJ Manley scored on a nice run to give the Jr. Zebras a 6-0 lead. Unfortunately for Zebras’ fans, Roseville stormed back to come away with a decisive 41-14 win. PeeWees _ The Jr. Zebras dominated from the start and cruised to a 37-0 victory over the Jr. Tigers. Greden McFarlin and Ryan Graham both intercepted a pass and took them back for touchdowns. The Lincoln defense harassed the Jr. Tigers all afternoon denying them any chance to score. Jr. PeeWees _ The going was a bit tougher for the Jr. PeeWees as the Jr. Tigers controlled the line of scrimmage. Their strong line helped them pound out a tough 12-0 victory in the nightcap. The Jr. Zebras travel to Auburn to take on the Placer Jr. Hillmen, Sept. 17. The Jr. Midgets will fight to remain in first place, while the Jr. PeeWees and PeeWees battle to stay just a single game out of the top spot. The games will be played at Placer High’s Le Febvre Stadium with the Mighty Mites starting at 9 a.m. Contests continue every two hours with successive games by the Jr. PeeWees, PeeWees, Jr. Midgets, and Midgets.
