Catie Miller, a 2005 graduate of Granite Bay High School, signed to play soccer at William Jessup University next fall.

Miller could have signed with Cal State San Marcos “but wanted to stay close to home,” Jessup sports information director Jeff Bussell said in an e-mail Thursday.

Miller had two goals and five assists in 2005, her senior year, for a Granite Bay team that went 17-1-1 overall and won the Metro League championship.

She was a team MVP at Sierra College before taking the last few years off from soccer. Jessup coach Jamie Howard is happy Miller is returning to the game.

“She is a great player with incredible field vision and work ethic,” Howard said. “She has a commanding presence on the field and ability to dictate play. We are excited to have Catie on the team and look for her to have an immediate impact on the field.”

Granite Bay senior Avery Hutchinson signed with Jessup in February.
