Mark your calendar and plan to spend July 3 enjoying local and national jazz musicians perform at Sherman Clay Pianos in Roseville.

Jim Martinez, festival producer and jazz musician, has performed and recorded with the likes of Lionel Hampton, the Stan Kenton Band, the Nelson Riddle Orchestra, Christian McBride and many others.

He said the one-day event will feature “wonderful musicians from all over the state.”

“We are fortunate to have these well-known groups perform,” Martinez said. “There will be several great artists including Yve Evans, who is based out of (Los Angeles) and is phenomenal.”

Martinez has worked as pianist and musical director for Joan Rivers and Bob Newhart.

In 2002, Clint Eastwood had this to say in an interview with the L.A. Daily News, “Last night, we went to a church in Carmel where a guy named Jim Martinez was playing … they were great.”

The Roseville event came to be a few years back when Martinez decided to bring local artists to the area.

Laura Didier is co-creator of the program.

She said she met Martinez at a Sacramento jam session and has been a part of the production ever since.

Didier performs a Doris Day tribute show. Her No. 1 show stopper is a Doris Day favorite, “Que Sera Sera.”

“It’s a fun moment in the show when I sing that tune,” Didier said. “She’s an American icon and to showcase her work is an honor.”

The day includes Yve Evans, a southern California vocalist, Cynthia Douglas, a former Motown vocalist, Cami Thompson, an Antonia Carols Jobim tribute, Peter Petty and Laura Didier, and Yve Evans with Jim Martinez.

“Everybody in the lineup is top notch,” Didier said.
