High school football teams weren’t allowed to start practice until last Monday. They didn’t pad up until Wednesday.

Youth football teams have been going at it for three weeks. All-star baseball play was still in action when youth football practice started.

The regular season begins Aug. 20, but the Oakmont Jr. Vikings, Roseville Jr. Tigers, Woodcreek Jr. Timberwolves and Granite Bay Jr. Grizzlies will see where they stand today at jamborees held throughout the area.

Granite Bay is acting as host to Roseville, Del Campo and Grant, and Jr. Grizzlies president Tiffany Jones said they’re thrilled with the opportunity.

“Our entire football community is excited for our season to begin,” she said Thursday.

Elsewhere, Woodcreek will be at Whitney High School and Oakmont at Rosemont High School.
