Inmate killed in Placer County Jail fight
A Placer County Jail inmate died after a fight with another inmate last week, according to Dena Erwin, spokesperson for the Placer County Sheriff's Office.
Dilbert Parmelee, 63, of Roseville was in the Placer County Jail on a parole hold for reasons that were not named. Parmelee got into a fight with another inmate on Aug. 27 at 10:30 p.m., according to Erwin.
Parmelee was taken to the hospital and underwent surgery, but on Aug. 31 died of injuries from the fight.
Erwin said in an email the sheriff's office continues to investigate the fight and the other inmate involved with the fight will not be identified because the case is still being reviewed by the Placer County District Attorney's Office as they determine what to charge him with.
The other inmate involved will continue to serve the sentence he was already in jail for and will not be released before additional charges are filed regarding the fight with Parmelee.
