Hat tricks lift Cougars, Earthquakes in youth soccer

Hat tricks by Bret Knudsen and Michael Marovich helped their teams win Roseville Youth Soccer Club matches last weekend.

Knudsen scored all three goals for the Cougars in their 3-1 victory over the Rocklin Mighty Fireballs in an under-10 boys match.

Carson Ferro was solid on defense, and Mikey Gaumond created opportunities for Knudsen and his other Cougars teammates.

Marovich scored half of the Earthquakes’ goals in a 6-2 win over the Explosion in an under-8 boys match. Andrew Curtan, Jack Lowe and Kaden Belton scored a goal each. Keaton Lomax and Andrew Gordon also played well.

Under-14 girls

Starfire 2, Lincoln Lynx 0 — Camryn Franks scored a goal off a corner kick, and Jessica Yanez also scored for the Starfire. Midfielder Sarah Swope created scoring opportunities, and Lauren Bailey’s defense contributed to the shutout.

Under-10 girls

Keiki Kickers 4, Blaze 2 — Madison Weidner scored two goals, and Gracie Harada and Maya Agnew scored one apiece for the Kickers.

Madison Pearson assisted on a goal, and Kylie Nguyen and Jade Trumbull played well on defense.
