The Major division all-stars from Snowline Little League put the ball in play just twice Saturday as Lakeside’s Mitch Hart tossed a no-hitter in a pool play game at the District 54 all-star tournament at McFarland Park in Folsom. Hart’s perfect game was broken up only by a single base on balls, and he fanned 10 hitters in a dominating performance that lasted just four innings as Lakeside tallied 11 times to win a contest shortened by the 10-run mercy rule. Matt Berry ripped two doubles and drove in four runs for Lakeside, while Hart also banged out a pair of hits. Matt Steindorf left the yard, and Zach Hall added a two-bagger to the Lakeside power surge. Lakeside (1-0 in Pool C) will see the level of competition go up exponentially in its next two pool play games, as it takes on a desperate El Dorado Hills South team (0-1) on Tuesday night before closing out pool play on Friday night against Roseville West (1-0). Roseville West’s 7-6 win over EDH South has that team needing to knock off Lakeside to stay alive in the tourney, as only the top two teams in the group will move on two the double-elimination finals.
