Grizzly JV spikers close with strong win over Bear River

The Bear River High School Bruins traveled to Granite Bay Tuesday for the last junior varsity volleyball match of the season. In game one, Bryan Berry and Jordan Long helped move the score along with a hit a piece to make it 3-3. At 4-3, Berry was able to string three points together on serve with an ace and a hit by Carson Odegard. At 8-5, with the help of a Carson Odegard service ace, a kill by Jarred Oliveira and four kills by Michael Bertolino, the score was run up to 15-6. Bear River showed some resolve at 16-8, and fought back with a five point run of their own. Robert Bell's kill stopped the run at 17-13. The Grizzlies pressed on with a kill from Jacob Ball, Carson Odegard (three total) and a fifth kill by Michael Bertolino to win the opening stanza 25-19. The second game was all Granite Bay. Jake Neptune cycled through to serve on two occasions, racking up 10 points, six of them by way of the service ace. With the help of Jordan Long (two kills), Carson Odegard (two kills), Michael Bertolino (one kill), Robert Bell (one kill) and Bryan Berry (one kill), the Grizzlies won 25-11 to sweep the match.
