In a battle that went back and forth all night long, the Granite Bay High wrestling team dropped a 32-30 heartbreaker to Del Oro Thursday night. “Our guys wrestled well,” said Granite Bay coach Mike Lynch. “We have a lot of young kids really wrestling hard and doing a good job. That thing could have gone either way.” Granite Bay winners in the battle with the Golden Eagles included Shane Saylor, who won a tight 8-6 decision at 103 pounds. Andrew Broadland captured the 112 pounds in a 5-1 decision. Phil Vogeley (125 pounds), Ian Mook (135), Adam Wagner (145) and William Anderson (189) also won highly competitive contests by decision. The big Grizzly win of the night came in the 152-pound division. “We got a really big win out of Carson (Schmidley) at 152,” Lynch said. “He did a great job for us. Overall, we have a lot of great kids who are going out and working their fannies off for us.” Gavin Andrews won the heavyweight division by pin as well. The Grizzlies are at the Tim Brown Memorial Tournament this weekend at the Memorial Auditorium.
