Grizzlies clinch regular-season SFL water polo title

Win over Nevada Union gives Granite Bay top seed in league tourney
The Granite Bay boys’ water polo team completed an undefeated regular-season run through the Sierra Foothill League by thrashing Bear River 16-2 on Tuesday at the Granite Bay High School pool. Senior Jamie Tyrell led the way for the Grizzlies with four goals and three assists, while senior Steven DeFrancisci added three goals and three assists. Nine different players scored from Granite Bay as the Grizzlies emptied the bench and gave everyone on the roster plenty of time in the pool. Dylan Weber and Robert Thyberg each tallied twice, while Kevin Miller, James Vigeant, Matt Wylder, Blake Van Gundy, and Ryan McCallister found the net once each. For Bear River, Josiah Georgeson and Alec Dutrow each scored a goal. The win completes an undefeated SFL season for the Grizzlies and they head into the SFL league championship Tournament as the number one seed. Granite Bay carries a 14-1 overall record.
