The Granite Bay High boys tennis team earned its way into the section title tilt against SFL rival Del Oro with a win on Monday at Bella Vista. The Grizzlies completely dominated the contest, winning eight of the nine matches. “Our kids did a great job,” said Granite Bay coach Jim Yoakum. “They have an excellent team but we were just a little stronger down the line.” Granite Bay’s No. 4 singles player, freshman Jake Keester, was the lone Grizzly to drop a match. “He played a very strong and steady young man and that a bad combination for us,” Yoakum said. “Jake took it to three sets and fought well. They also had a very strong man at No. 3 but Kyle Pawlak played amazingly well when the pressure was on and won 7-5 in the third set.” The Grizzlies visited Del Oro Tuesday in the section final.
