Back-to-back double-digit wins clinched the championship of the Mesa Verde Tournament Saturday for the Granite Bay High boys basketball team. After using a 23-point third quarter explosion to put away Del Campo 60-42 in a Friday nigh semifinal, the Grizzlies won a low-scoring title game 42-32 over a Bella Vista team they had beaten earlier in the week. Granite Bay was consistently better in than the Broncos in each quarter as they gradually built that 10-point margin. Robert Duncan scored 11 points to lead the way, as John Davis scored 10 and Jake Riffice added eight points for Granite Bay. The Grizzlies host Rosemont at 7:30 p.m. Monday night before heading to San Diego the week between Christmas and New Year’s for the Surf and Slam Tournament.
