"Great Americans" take the stage
After two months of preparation, fifth graders at Cirby Elementary School in Roseville performed their end-of-school-year musical, "Greatest Americans of the 20th Century," May 18.
Dressed as famous historical figures such as Ernest Hemingway, Franklin D. Roosevelt and Rosa Parks, the kids gathered together to attend the Great Americans Award Show. A young reporter interviewed people on the red carpet about their accomplishments.
"We decided to put on this musical to give the kids an opportunity to be a part of visual and performing arts, an opportunity that most of our students would not have a chance to enjoy outside of school," said teacher Janis Pope. "They were learning while singing and dancing and having a really good time."
