Granite Bay volleyball awaits SFL leader Nevada Union on MondayBy: Staff Report
Granite Bay High School swept Roseville 25-15, 25-20, 25-15 in a Sierra Foothill League boys volleyball match Wednesday night to set up a rematch with unbeaten Nevada Union on Monday at Granite Bay.
The Grizzlies are 14-12 overall and 4-2 in the SFL after their victory at Roseville (8-8, 1-5), and the Miners are 11-4 overall and 4-0 in the SFL. Nevada Union beat Granite Bay 3-1 on April 3 in Grass Valley.
Granite Bay 5, Nevada Union 0 — Junior Chloe Dobson had two goals and an assist as the Grizzlies (5-5-2, 4-2-1) maintained their hold on second place in the SFL with a shutout of the host Miners (2-9, 1-5). Seniors Sarah Giddings and Brigid Lummis and sophomore Natalie Rhodes also scored goals, and senior Paris Loomis, juniors Makenzie Brito and Sara Wagner and freshman Savanna Thompson each had an assist.
Roseville 1, Woodcreek 0 — Junior Milana Wolsleben scored the only goal, and the Tigers (7-4-1, 3-2-1) blanked the Timberwolves (5-9-2, 1-5-1) to stay a half-game behind second-place Granite Bay in the SFL.
