Paige Lee’s four-year golf career with Granite Bay High School came to a close Tuesday with a ninth-place finish in the CIF/WSCGA Foundation Girls State Championship.

Lee went out in 39 and shot a 40 coming in for a 5-over-par 79 on the par-74 layout at Red Hill Country Club in Rancho Cucamonga. Grizzlies coach Jason Sitterud made the trip and wrote in an e-mail that Lee was even par through five holes before posting a double-bogey 5 on a par 3 and following with a bogey on the next hole.

Lee, who has a verbal commitment to attend UC Davis, wraps up her career as a four-time Sac-Joaquin Section Division II individual champion and three-time Sierra Foothill League MVP. This was her third state tournament. She tied for eighth (with Oakmont’s Maddy Gedeon) last year at Poppy Hills and tied for fourth as a sophomore at Red Hill.

“She has had a great run,” Sitterud said.

Torrey Pines won the team championship for the third year in a row.
