Pins were the order of the night Thursday as the Granite Bay High wrestling team hosted Oakmont. None of the matches went to decision as the Grizzlies dominated the mats 71-11 in a Sierra Foothill League dual battle. "It was a good night for us," said Granite Bay coach Mike Lynch. "We worked on some things this week and the kids really put everything we did in practice to work." The Vikings won just two matches all night long, with Russel Lebard taking the 217-pound bout by technical fall and sophomore star Jake Elliott winning the 137-pound matchup by pin. Four of the matches went to the Grizzlies by forfeit, and Granite Bay dominated the remainder in impressive fashion. Johnny Cooley took the 142-pound matchup by technical fall and seven Granite Bay grapplers pinned their Oakmont opponents. Shane Saylor (105), Andrew Broadland (114), Daniel Flinders (121), Adam Wagner (147), Charlie Gordon (173), William Anderson (191) and Gavin Andrews (heavyweight) were the seven Grizzlies who won those contests. "We are trying to peak as we go into the postseason," Lynch said. "Everybody's trying to get to Bakersfield and we are just hoping we really hit our stride."
