Granite Bay-based A Touch of Understanding recently received a $78,156 grant from State Farm. The nonprofit organization supports youth-led disability awareness for local schools and serves seven counties in the region with guest speakers, activity stations and peer-to-peer interaction. ATOU was one of six organizations throughout California to earn a grant. State Farm awarded the grants in partnership with the State Farm Youth Advisory Board, which is a group of 30 youth, ages 17 to 20, who were chosen through a competitive process to lead and oversee this nationwide $5 million annual service-learning initiative. The Youth Board will now provide technical assistance, communication and oversight to site grantees. ~ Sena Christian
