Granite Bay is No. 2 in Sac-Joaquin Section power ratings
Granite Bay High School’s boys basketball team is No. 2 in Division I in the first Sac-Joaquin Section power ratings of the season, which were released Tuesday morning.
The Grizzlies (16-6 overall, 5-0 Sierra Foothill League) are sandwiched between top-seeded Sheldon of the Delta River League and No. 3 Bella Vista of the Capital Valley Conference in the 34-team division. Woodcreek (11-11, 2-3 SFL), which plays at Nevada Union on Wednesday night, is No. 18. Stockton-Chavez is on the bubble at No. 16, and Stockton-Bear Creek is No. 17.
Antelope (16-6, 5-0 Capital Athletic League) is rated No. 2 in the 36-team Division II behind Stockton-St. Mary’s. Roseville is No. 19, but the Tigers (17-5, 2-3 SFL) have a spot secured in the playoffs because of their win total.
Also, Valley Christian Academy (6-11, 4-1 Sacramento Metro Athletic League) is rated 12th in Division V, and Oakmont (7-13, 1-4 Capital Valley Conference) is 24th in Division III.
In the girls power ratings, Valley Christian (8-9, 6-0 SMAL) is No. 3 in Division VI. Oakmont (16-6, 2-3 CVC) is No. 13 in Division III, Antelope (14-7, 2-3 CAL) is No. 15 in Division II, and Woodcreek (11-11, 3-2 SFL) and Granite Bay (10-12, 1-4 SFL) are Nos. 16 and 27 in Division I.
The playoffs begin Feb. 15 with outbracket games. The first round is scheduled for Feb. 20 and the second round Feb. 22.
