Granite Bay makes a splash, wins Woodcreek tournament
Granite Bay High School defeated El Camino 13-12 on Saturday to win the Woodcreek Invitational water polo tournament at the Roseville Aquatics Center.
The Grizzlies came back from an 11-6 deficit, and Jack Ellinthorpe scored the winning goal with four seconds remaining. Andrew Murch led the Grizzlies with three goals. Ellinthorpe, Alek Dendall, Nathan Pinkney, Will Lewis and Max Vigeant each scored two goals.
In goal, Scott Gaebler of Granite Bay had five blocks, including a 5-meter stop. Gaebler had 12 blocks against Bear River on Friday and 12 in the Grizzlies’ semifinal victory over Oak Ridge.
