The Granite Bay Municipal Advisory Council has a vacancy for a secretary.

Placer County currently is taking applications from Granite Bay residents interested in serving as the council’s secretary. The Placer County Board of Supervisors will fill the vacancy.

These secretaries are contract employees who work for the board. They receive $150 for each meeting for doing the preparation work, attending the meeting and handling follow-up duties.

Being a council secretary is a chance to serve one’s community while staying up to date on county issues. Secretaries are responsible for mailing out agendas, taking summary minutes and handling related duties.

The county’s 14 Municipal Advisory Councils advise the Board of Supervisors on issues of public interest in unincorporated areas. They are charged with gathering public comment on a range of topics, including land use, public works, recreation, law enforcement and public health and safety.

The Granite Bay MAC normally meets at 7 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month in the offices of the Eureka Union School District, 5455 Eureka Road in Roseville.

For an application or more information, call the Board of Supervisors Office at (530) 889-4010. Applications also are available online at Hit the “Apply to serve on a Committee or Commission” icon under the “Quick Links” section at the right side of the webpage.

Completed applications should be delivered to the board’s office in person or by mail. The office is located at 175 Fulweiler Ave. in Auburn. The mailing address is 175 Fulweiler Ave., Auburn, CA 95603.
