Sarah Petersen hauled in 30 rebounds in two games, but it wasn’t enough to lift William Jessup University to the California Pacific Conference women’s basketball tournament championship.

The Warriors fell to Menlo 66-58 in the title game Tuesday night in Atherton. It was Jessup’s second appearance in the CalPac tournament championship game in three years.

Junior Ashley Rose led the Warriors (15-15) with 20 points, and Petersen, a Granite Bay High School graduate who was voted CalPac Newcomer of the Year, had nine points and 15 rebounds.

Three nights earlier, Petersen led host Jessup over Simpson 63-49 in a tournament semifinal. She had a double double with 13 points and 17 rebounds and finished her junior season — and first season at Jessup — with averages of 14.1 points and 9.8 rebounds.
