Granite Bay freshman Paige Lee battled for individual honors with Nevada Union’s talented Chelsey Love Wednesday, as the Grizzlies held of the Miners 251-255 in a Sierra Foothill League dual match in Grass Valley. Lee carded a 38 to lead all scorers, one stroke better than Love’s 39, and her teammates stepped up just enough to secure the team win in the last match before the league holds its first league-wide event Monday. The Grizzlies’ Kelly Steindorf posted a 49 as the only other sub-50 score of the day. McKenzie Gainer shot a 53 for Granite Bay, while Sydney Mendenhall fired a 55, Ashley Sweeting a 56 and Megan Fox a 57 for the victorious Grizzlies. Both teams are next in action at the league’s first seven-team match, set for Monday morning at River Oaks Golf Course in Nicolaus.
