It just got a whole lot harder to go boating at Folsom Lake. Lake officials announced today the closure of the low water boat launch ramp at Granite Bay. A news release issued by the California Department of Parks and Recreation states the closure was made for public safety concerns as the lake’s water level has dropped below the launch ramp, making safe launching problematic. Officials said they would reopen the launch ramp as soon as the water returns to a safe level. In the news release, Folsom superintendent Dan Tynan said the lake’s current level of 369.15 vertical feet is the lowest in several years, and a lack of rainfall hasn’t helped matters. A 5 mph speed limit remains in effect. For information, call the Folsom Lake State Recreation Area Office at 7755 Folsom-Auburn Road in Folsom.
