Granite Bay’s Petersen is named to All-CalPac women’s first team

Sarah Petersen was one of three William Jessup University basketball players named to the All-California Pacific Conference first team in an announcement Wednesday.

Petersen, a 5-foot-8 junior forward and Granite Bay High School graduate, was voted CalPac Newcomer of the Year and was joined on the 10-player first team by Jessup teammates Ashley Rose and Taylor Borba.

Rose averaged 16.7 points per game, Petersen 14.4 and Borba 14.1 to rank second, fourth and fifth in the conference. Borba is a 5-7 guard and Rose a 5-6 guard. All are juniors.

Petersen also averages a team-high 9.3 rebounds, which is second-best in the league. That includes 12 games in double figures and a high of 19. She averages two steals and 1.8 assists.

William Jessup (14-14 overall, 7-3 CalPac) will be host to a conference tournament semifinal at 7:30 p.m. Saturday against an opponent to be determined.
