Granite Bay’s Lee fires 76, ties for fourth at state tournament
Granite Bay High School sophomore Paige Lee shot a 76 and tied for fourth place individually at the CIF Girls State Golf Championship on Monday at Red Hill Country Club in Rancho Cucamonga.
Lee shot a 39 on the front nine and a 37 on the back nine to finish two strokes behind medalist Grace Na of Alameda. Lee was the only sophomore to finish in the top 10, according to Granite Bay coach Jason Sitterud.
Lee birdied No. 1, followed with back-to-back three-putt double bogeys and then played 1 under par the rest of the way, according to Sitterud.
“She did a great job,” Sitterud said. “It was really cool to see how well she played and just kind of fought through and finished strong.”
Roseville resident Ashley Noda shot an 81 for St. Francis, which finished sixth with a 433 total score. Torrey Pines won the state title with a 396.
Also, Whitney freshman Kelsey Ulep shot a 79 and finished in a three-way tie for 12th with Sac-Joaquin Section Masters champion Shawnee Martinez of Modesto-Enochs and Sarah Cho of San Diego-Torrey Pines.
