While you’re out gathering last-minute gifts this weekend, don’t forget to pick up something for a local senior in need.

Home Instead Senior Care said Thursday there are still ornaments on gift trees for its “Be a Santa to a Senior” program in Placer County, which means there are seniors whose wishes have not been met.

Holiday shoppers are asked to pick up an ornament off the special Be a Santa to a Senior Christmas trees at the locations below, buy items on the list and return them unwrapped to the store, along with the ornament attached. The Home Instead Senior Care office will then enlist the volunteer help of its staff, senior-care business associates, nonprofit workers and others to collect, wrap and distribute the gifts to seniors who may be isolated and need companionship this holiday season.

The program runs through Dec. 24. For more information about the program, visit or call (530) 885-3904.
