The residents of the Sacramento Children’s Home received a bit of cheer recently when the girls of Girl Scout Troop 788 delivered 132 Easter baskets. The project helped Amanda Duisenberg, an eighth-grader at Silverado Middle School in Roseville, earn her Silver Award, the second highest award of the Girl Scouts in the United States. The girls of Troop 788 spent several afternoons after school assembling the baskets. Those were carted to the Sacramento Children’s Home in three vans. “I’m so happy that while I was able to earn my Girl Scout Silver award, I was able to make so many children happy through both the dance and the basket project,” Duisenberg said. “During Easter, I have always been so fortunate and get a big basket full of toys and goodies every year. I wanted children that have never experienced this to not have to go without this year and to have a fun and memorable Easter.”
