If you’ve been looking for a family pet, Pet Fest is coming to the Placer SPCA from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 2 at 150 Corporation Yard Road in Roseville. This family-friendly event is free to attend and well-behaved dogs on leash are welcome. Activities include dog games such as paw painting, musical sit, a costume contest and more. There will also be a vendor fair and tours of the adoption center. Guests are invited to bring photos of pets to participate in the “So Ugly They’re Cute” and “Cutest Pet” contests. New this year will be a Swab-a-Thon by Canine Heritage Breed test. Tests will be available to purchase to find out the genetic heritage of dogs, accurate for more than 100 breeds. Tests will sell for $99.95, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Placer SPCA. During the Pet Fest, Placer SPCA will offer free adoptions to good homes for all adult cats. There will also be a special adoption fee for dogs. All adoptions are subject to counseling and screening. All animals adopted from the Placer SPCA will have received a veterinary exam, behavior assessment, spay or neuter surgery, rabies vaccine and a microchip.
