Granite Bay freshman Paige Lee posted an even-par 72 Monday to advance to the Northern California finals in high school girls golf. Lee's 72 was one stroke off the pace set by Marissa Mar of St. Francis and Enochs' (Modesto) Shawnee Martinez at the Sac-Joaquin Section Masters tournament at The Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton. “Paige was two-over on the front, with three 3-putts,” said Granite Bay coach Jason Sitterud. “She was able to bounce back on the back nine and shot two-under to give her a score of even for the day. She consistently hits quality shots every time. She rarely puts herself in situations that she cannot recover from.” Mar and her Troubador teammates won the team title and will advance en masse to the CIF Northern California championships next Monday at Almaden Golf and Country Club in San Jose. The teams from Oak Ridge and Christian Brothers also advanced after finishing among the top three teams. Roseville resident Ashley Noda shot a 76 as part of the runaway champions from St. Francis, a team that saw all six of its golfers score 80 or better. The top four individuals from outside those three teams also move on, as Martinez and Lee will headline that group. Center's Sagee Palavivatana (73) and Lodi's Marissa Hinchman (75) are the other two that are moving on. Lee is the first Granite Bay girls’ golfer to reach the Northern California tournament and she is the youngest golfer to advance that far. “She has a great chance to get to state if she continues to hit the ball well,” Sitterud said.
