If you are looking for local holiday events to put you in the spirit of the season, Granite Bay has plenty to offer. From beautiful neighborhood light displays to shopping and visits from Santa, you need not travel far to find some holiday fun. - On Sunday, a Christmas boutique will be offered to the public at the home of Karin Thompson, founder of Change My Room Designs. Thompson will have 12 artisans displaying unique gifts featuring home décor, hand knit fabrics, jewelry and personal care items for sale. Entry to the boutique, located at 8371 East Hidden Lakes Drive, is free. A portion of the profits made at this event will benefit the SPCA. - Quarry Ponds Town Center located at 5550 Douglas Blvd. is also hosting a holiday bazaar from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 13 and 14. Browse through the shops and visit guest vendor displays as well. - Christmas trees are in good supply along Douglas Boulevard. Mikey’s Christmas Trees, east of Quarry Pond Town Center features 5- to 11-foot trees for $48.35 each, regardless of size or type. Another easy to find tree lot is Santa’s Forest with the large white canopy, just west of Quarry Pond Town Center. They feature trees beginning at 3 feet for $19.95 and ranging up in size and price. They also offer tree flocking, mistletoe, wreaths and lights for a one-stop shopping experience. Each lot offers Douglas fir, grand Douglas and noble fir trees. - Christmas Eve offers scenic neighborhood drives to enjoy the light displays in some of the most decorated areas. Hidden Lakes Estates, near the end of Douglas Boulevard at Folsom Lake, features homes with luminary displays. Another great area to visit for Christmas Eve décor is Folsom Lake Estates, off Barton Road just south of East Roseville Parkway. Grab some hot chocolate, turn on your favorite holiday music and enjoy a nice drive. - In addition, Santa is taking time out of his busy schedule to make weekly appearances at the Quarry Pond Town Center in the Canopy Plaza area. Bring your camera for a photo opportunity on Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
