The Westfield Galleria at Roseville is planning for a complete re-opening on Oct. 6, mall officials announced Monday. A giant crane could be seen Monday lifting materials for the skylight section as construction workers added the finishing touches to the new roof, which officials expect to be fully sealed this week. Westfield spokespeople said recent rain and inclement weather has delayed construction but crews are making progress in getting open before the one-year anniversary of an arson fire that destroyed a major portion of the mall. Officials announced that shoppers can expect an updated look and feel for the restored section, which spans about 120,000 square feet in the northeast corner of the mall. “With the placement of these final sections, the roof and walls are completely closed up and construction crews will focus on finishing up internal details,” said Gavin Farnam, senior general manager for the Westfield Galleria at Roseville, in a statement. Westfield officials said the company is still working with stores on leasing details as the space is still under construction, but several new and interesting store concepts are expected from retailers in the space. Alexander Piggee, 24, of Sacramento, pleaded guilty on March 8 to setting the Oct. 21 blaze that closed the entire mall for about one week, just before the beginning of the holiday shopping season. Summer of Fun Westfield announced Monday the Summer of Fun Entertainment Series with family fun activities and live entertainment on the Galleria’s outdoor promenade every Thursday beginning June 9. The series kicks off with The Sippy Cups, a band that was formed by three musical dads who created kid-friendly takes on contemporary tunes. The series will end July 28 with a performance from former American Idol’s LaToya London, Michael Johns and Nikki McKibbin. More information on this series can be found at Toby Lewis can be reached at
