Woodcreek High School senior star pitcher Stephen Nogosek signed a national letter of intent with the University of Oregon at a recent ceremony on campus.

Nogosek, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound right-handed pitcher, led the Timberwolves to the Sac-Joaquin Section Division II championship last spring with about as dominating a playoffs as one could produce.

“Nogo,” as he’s called, pitched a three-hit shutout against Bella Vista in the first round and a two-hit shutout against Rocklin in a must-win second game of their best-of-three semifinal series. Nogosek then recorded the final out with a strikeout to earn the save in the deciding game three and in the championship game pitched a two-hitter against Granite Bay.

Overall last season, Nogosek was 8-0 with a 1.02 ERA and 100 strikeouts in 75 2/3 innings. Opponents had a .154 batting average against him.

Also signing were softball players Lexi Wilkerson and Frankie Orlando and swimmer Allyson Fellows. Wilkerson was 11-0 with a 0.88 ERA for the Sac-Joaquin Section Division II-champion Timberwolves last spring.
