Popular free entertainment returns to the Fountains at Roseville for the 2010 Summer Concert series and First Fridays Street Fairs. The event runs from Friday, June 4 to Saturday, Sept. 11. An estimated 15,000 people attended the summer music and street fair in 2009, and organizers say this year’s will offer more fun and excitement for visitors. From 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday nights, bands will take the stage, performing music of several different genres, including classic, indie and Latin rock, 60s revue, California and Nashville country, and New Orleans rhythm and blues. First Fridays Street Fairs have extended hours this year, running each night from 6-10 p.m. Many of the Fountains’ seven restaurants will offer “First Friday” patio specials or food tasting on the shopping center’s main street. Artisans, crafters and car clubs will also participate in the street fair. The remaining Fridays will be “Flashback Friday” themed-nights from 7-9 p.m., featuring Dale Chessey and AllStarDJ Group. Themes vary from family night and country hoedown to Motown madness and back to the beach. Melanie Greenwood, popular dance host and inventor of the “Achy Breaky Heart” line dance, returns twice a month. Roseville Dance will provide dance exhibitions and instruction on the third Friday of the month. Saturdays’ music events present a predominantly new line-up of musical guests, with encores by popular 2009 bands, at a new start time of 8 p.m. The premiere act, The Sun Kings — a Beatles tribute band — kicks off the event on June 12. Encore bands include Groove Thang, Superlicious, The Pyronauts and Code Blue. Music genres include reggae, R&B, surf rock and disco. ~ Sena Christian ---------- The 2010 Summer Concert Series and First Fridays Street Fairs run from June 4 to Sept. 11 at the Fountains at Roseville, on Roseville Parkway and Galleria Boulevard.
