The Roseville High girls volleyball team improved its season mark to 4-0 with a win over Elk Grove in a Foundation Game on its home court Thursday night. Sept. 3 is the date set apart on which all girls volleyball games are played to benefit a Sac-Joaquin Section scholarship program. These Foundation Games are varsity contests only and allow for one extra match in the season. The Tigers swept Elk Grove 25-14,25-15,25-5 in claiming their fourth straight to open the new campaign. “We have worked on finding a good level of play and we made another step toward that tonight,” said Roseville coach Ron Grove. “We are a work in progress and working on things to make us ready for league play. Our strength right now is a close group that works well together well.” Kelsey Roland led the offense with seven kills and Simone Durham added six kills, while Jamie Nurenberg and Katie Simon added five each as the team spread the load around. Morgan Diminyatz and Jessica Richardson played strong games in the back row. “It was a good team effort tonight and more to build on for the future,” Grove said. Roseville will participate in the High Sierra Tournament this weekend.
