Former gang members can get tattoos removed

Roseville event features car show, jump houses, rap concert, laser tattoo removal

A former gang member may be ready to turn his life around, get a job and embrace a fresh start.

But there's something standing in his way: a tattoo. It could be a tear drop on his face, or several tattoos covering his hands or neck that suggest affiliation with a gang.

For those who no longer want these markings to define who they are, Roseville-based Victory Outreach Church is collaborating with Ink Off Me to remove tattoos during a two-day event on Saturday, July 7 and Sunday, July 8 in Roseville.

Pastor Bob Berrios said erasing tattoos will remove "a barrier to getting jobs or a reminder of a life they left behind." Organizers ask people to call and make an appointment for laser tattoo removal and a $50 donation is suggested.

On Saturday, there will also be a car show, food, jump houses, prizes and a dance competition. Rapper Sevin will perform during the car show at noon and the following evening he will put on a concert at the Polish American Hall.

"Victory Outreach wants to be a part of cultivating a sense of community, and as a newcomer to the Roseville area, we wanted to reach out by bringing family oriented entertainment to our neighbors," Berrios said.
