Just in case you are not quite into college bowl games or pro football, but prefer your gridiron action at the high school level, there is good news for you this weekend. The high school football season is not quite over yet as there is still one more game on the slate. A number of local athletes will take the field at Grant High School Saturday at 1 p.m. as part of the north team in the KCRA 3 Holiday Classic football game. The game pits top high school seniors from the Sacramento area (north squad) against their counterparts from the Stockton/Modesto area (south) in an all-star shootout. Mike Alberghini of Grant, fresh off leading his team to the championship at the open division state bowl game just one week ago, will coach the north team. A trio of Granite Bay stars are part of the festivities, with fullback Clark Partridge, offensive lineman and Sierra Foothill League lineman of the year Eddie Thomas and defensive back Corey Vanderbeek representing the Grizzlies. All-purpose back and receiver Zack Davis will participate as a representative of SFL co-champion Roseville, and Woodcreek sends two players to the contest – 265-pound offensive lineman Casey Griffiths and SFL defensive MVP Darius Woods. Superstar running back Zack Graves of Section IV champion Whitney will be joined by his teammate, linebacker Nick Law on the north roster. The game kicks off at 1 p.m. Saturday at Grant.
