The First 5 Placer Children and Families Commission is seeking four members for its Community Resource Comm-ittee. The Children and Families Commission is an autonomous self-governing commission appointed by the Placer County Board of Supervisors. The primary purpose of the commission is to develop and implement a strategic plan for using First 5 funds for early childhood development and support for families with children prenatal through 5 years of age. The CRC is comprised of one to three Commission members and at least six (6) additional members appointed by the Commission from the community. Parents and individuals who care for young children can apply. The CRC provides advice to the Commission in the following areas: n Incorporate community voices in planning, evaluating and allocating First 5 funds n Provide a vehicle for reporting to the community n Provide timely interaction and advice on statewide funding initiatives n Broadly and publicly spread the First 5 message n Provide an open community forum for feedback on the work of the Commission, and n Upon request, review funding applications for $5,000 or under and make recommendations to the CFC and the community. The Committee meets at least four times a year, sometimes as often as once a month for approximately two hours in Auburn. The term of membership is three years.
