Fallen Marine Victor Dew was honored Wednesday with a processional through downtown Roseville. Dew, 20, was killed in combat, along with three other Marines, Oct. 13 in the Hemland province of Afghanistan after a roadside bomb exploded near their military vehicle during a mission. Private First Class Dew served as an anti-tank assault specialist in the U.S. Marine Corps and had been deployed only about three weeks before the fatal explosion. Dew graduated from Granite Bay High School in 2008, where he played on the football team for two years. He was also a second-degree black belt in Zen Budokai Jujitsu. He and his girlfriend, Courtney Gold, had recently become engaged. A funeral was held for Dew Thursday at St. Rose Catholic Church in Roseville, followed by full military honors at the East Lawn Sierra Hills Memorial Park, where he was laid to rest in front of a couple hundred friends and family members.
