Elsewhere in the SYFC Midgets Del Oro 28, Rocklin 0 Evening up at 4-4 the Jr. Thunder fell like every other team to Del Oro this season. The Jr. Golden Eagles advance to a still perfect 8-0 having only allowed one touchdown in 8 games. In their last game of the season Del Oro hosts Woodcreek (2-6). Woodcreek 24, Antelope 10 Head coach Mike Craik turned his team around following a 31-6 loss to Oakmont in week seven to beat Antelope (2-6). The Jr. Timberwolves have a tough end to their season at Del Oro. Woodreek has allowed 195 points on defense to Del Oro’s eight points. American River 34, Roseville 0 Having lost their last seven games (five without scoring a single point) the Jr. Tigers fall to 1-7. Always a rivalry, the game will allow both teams to prospectively end the season with some success. Also in the SYFC Rocklin and Roseville Jr. Midgets fighting for playoffs Rocklin 21, Del Oro 0 Attempting to push their way into the postseason, the Jr. Thunder advance to 6-2 after squashing Del Oro. Week 9 is a must-win for Rocklin hosting Oakmont (3-5) as the Vikings come off the momentum of a 36-0 blowout of Granite Bay. “It was the first time all year that we’ve actually gelled together as a team,” said Viking Jr. Midget Head Coach John Paschke. “The difference in this game to last week against Woodcreek was that we had eleven players getting it done instead of the usual three. We only have 18 kids and in this game they finally played really hard together.” American River 8. Roseville 0 Their second loss couldn’t have come at worse time as the Jr. Tigers now drop to 6-2, even with Rocklin and Antelope. At Granite Bay (2-6) for their last game Roseville Head Coach Dawayne Tuttle needs to secure a spot in the playoffs. Jr. Pee Wee Woodcreek hopeful for playoffs, Granite Bay still struggling Woodcreek 18, Antelope 0 Beating Antelope (5-3) puts the Jr. Timberwolves within breath of the playoffs, jumping to 6-2, second only to American River (8-0). In week nine, the Jr. Timberwolves have what should be their most exciting game of the season as they play Del Oro (6-2). The game will determine the second spot into the postseason. Oakmont 20, Granite Bay 13 Falling to the Jr. Vikings proved especially unfortunate for the Jr. Grizzlies as they fall to 5-3, tied with Antelope for the fourth spot in the division. At home against Roseville (2-6) Granite Bay needs the win and hopes Antelope (5-3) loses at Oak Ridge (4-4). Mighty Mite Woodcreek and Granite Bay still in it, Roseville possible Woodcreek 6, Antelope 0 Luckily for them, the Jr. Timberwolves passed Antelope (4-4) and moved up to 6-2 just below Folsom (7-1) in division standings. At Del Oro (2-6) in Week 9 the Jr. Timberwolves hope to win and will move into the playoffs. Granite Bay 27, Oakmont 7 The Jr. Grizzlies (6-2) force a three-way tie at second place. Hosting Roseville (5-3) in their last game is a much-needed win for Granite Bay to make playoffs. Roseville 30, American River 6 With a chance to still make playoffs the Jr. Tigers advance to 5-3, behind four teams in the division. Just as critical for the Jr. Grizzlies is a Roseville win at Granite Bay in seek nine.
