In planning for the 2012 season, the new management team at All American Speedway sought to bring fans and racers closer together.

In the case of this Saturday’s Egggstravaganza Enduro, that means letting fans throw eggs onto the track at the start of the 200-lap event.

A Fair Oaks farm donated 30 dozen eggs for the enduro, some of which will be hard-boiled for kids to decorate and the rest for adding to the track mix of soap and water.

“That will add a little excitement to it,” speedway host Ken Brooks said.

Putting eggs into the hands of fans is part of a reconnection speedway management seeks this season. Officials also plan on certain nights to have a bounce house, autographed Frisbees to throw into the stands and other fan interaction.

To fit in these new plans, racing was moved up to a 5 p.m. start each Saturday. The track has a 10 p.m. curfew.

“The last several years, because of the number of divisions we run (five), we were running up real tight (to the curfew), and it wasn’t allowing us to do any fun things,” Brooks said. “Because of the layout, the sound walls, there was a huge disconnect between our racers and fans. We’re hoping to bring that connection back. We want to introduce them to the fans so the fans can actually meet and see who’s in the cars they’re rooting for.”

The Egggstravaganza is the first of four scheduled enduros, each with a theme. There’s even an enduro points series.

Because last Saturday night’s season opener was rained out, Brooks said opening-night ceremonies will be held April 14, the night of the next NASCAR Whelen All-American Series program.
