The Placer County Economic Development Board will hold its 21st annual breakfast summit meeting Thursday, March 22 at Sun City Roseville. The summit’s theme this year is “Health and Wellness – Healthy Lifestyles Build Vibrant Communities.” According to the EDB, heath care is a primary target industry for job creation in the Placer County Economic Development Board Roadmap adopted in 2010. The summit meeting is scheduled to take place from 7:30 to 9 a.m. in Sun City’s Timber Creek Ballroom and the cost is $25 per person in advance or $30 at the door. This year’s speakers include Edward S. Glavis, a senior vice president at Kaiser Permanente; Patrick R. Brady, chief executive officer of Sutter Roseville Medical Center; and Maia Schneider, director of community development and government relations for the Tahoe Forest Health System. The summit also will feature an awards presentation led by Bridget Powers, an Auburn city council member and this year’s chairwoman of the Economic Development Board. Each year, the board presents awards to recognize public and private-sector contributions to the county’s economic well-being. “Good health means more than seeing your doctor once a year,” said former Economic Development Board chair and Placer County supervisor Jennifer Montgomery, in a statement. “It begins with lifestyle choices like shopping at the farmers market in Auburn, or going for a run or a hike at our local recreation areas.” The Economic Development Board is an advisory board that assists the county with its business attraction and retention efforts and promotes the creation of new jobs and tax revenue.
