In other local select soccer action, the Eureka Flames under-14 girls squad has taken home medals in each of its three tournaments of the late summer. A first year team, facing competition made up mostly of second-year U14 groups, the Flames have overcome the age and size disadvantage in impressive fashion. The team held competitors to just two goals over four games in its hometown tournament, Eureka Youth Soccers’ Hot August Blast-off. The scoring load for the Flames has been shared by a number of its attackers, as Kyli Olesen, Emily Torris, Lauren Handley and Natalie Rhodes have all found the back of the net. The Flames are coached by Katy Vivaldi, Lisa Scranton and Terry Scranton. The trainer for the team is Sammy Borlovan.
