Students collected toilet paper, hand creams, soaps and other toiletries at Oakmont High School Friday afternoon at the end of the Interact Club’s annual toiletries drive to benefit the Gathering Inn. “This year we didn’t do as well as last year, unfortunately,” said Interact President Ian Utz. “It’s hard to ask students to do this when some of them are struggling themselves.” Several students pushed two carts around campus collecting bags from each classroom. Between 30 and 40 students worked on the toiletries drive, said club adviser Andrewa Muller. The donations — of toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, razors, shaving cream, deodorant, combs, brushes, washcloths and Band-Aids — will be given to The Gathering Inn. ~ Sena Christian
