Don’t forget: second installment of property taxes due April 10

-A +A
Placer County Treasurer-Tax Collector Jenine Windeshausen is reminding property owners that they have until 5 p.m. Friday, April 10 to make the second installment of their annual property taxes for the 2008-2009 year. This deadline should not be confused with the federal and state income tax deadline. Pursuant to state law, a late second installment property tax payment is subject to an immediate 10 percent penalty and $10 cost. Payments sent by mail must be U. S. postmarked no later than April 10. Payments made in person at the Treasurer-Tax Collector’s Office, 2976 Richardson Drive in Auburn, must be paid by 5 p.m. April 10. For added convenience, a drive-up deposit box in the front of the building as well as one in the lobby of the office are also available. Payments must be deposited in these drop boxes by 5 p.m. on April 10. To pay by credit card, debit card or e-check, visit www.placer.ca.gov/tax. To pay by virtual check, check out www.placer.ca.gov/tax. Taxpayers with questions about their bill may contact the Tax Collector’s staff by calling, (530) 889-4120, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Taxpayers may also access tax information either by calling the same phone number and using the 24-hour automated phone system, or by viewing it online at www.placer.ca.gov/tax. A parcel number is needed to obtain information through the automated phone system or online. – Staff report
