Del Oro takes out Woodcreek, Roseville in softball

Woodcreek and Roseville high schools were eliminated from the Sac-Joaquin Section Division II softball playoffs on back-to-back nights at the Sacramento Softball Complex.

Woodcreek lost to Del Oro 7-3 on Monday night. Roseville was knocked into the losers’ bracket after falling to Capital Valley Conference champion Casa Roble 5-4 on Monday, and then fell to Del Oro 4-1 on Tuesday.

Woodcreek (18-7-1) led Del Oro 3-1 until the Sierra Foothill League-champion Golden Eagles scored five runs in the fifth inning.

The next day, Roseville (21-7) was limited to three hits by Del Oro pitcher Jordan Courage. The teams met five times this season with Del Oro winning three.

Casa Roble defeated Del Oro 6-0 on Thursday night for the championship.
